One useful body

A middle-aged woman

Changed by illness

Every movement concentrated effort

Activities shortened and dictated

A senior gentleman

Changed by age

Every movement concentrated effort

Activities shortened and dictated

Things that once took them “no time”

Now takes an entire day

Separated by thirty years

Joined by similarities

They see each other as useful

Not robbed of smiles or laughter

They joke

Between them both

One fully functioning body

(I have been helping a man I now call GrandpaΒ

With some household things these past days,

In between taking moments to rest and blog.

A side-effect of Lyme, my hands are impacted.

Forgive my commenting less for now.)
