The Past

The past is a place I like to visit

To retrieve the lessons I have learned

To embrace the unique scars

That through experience I’ve earned

falling through heaven
my petals unfolding
I climbed the highest trellis
to the promise of today

(Contributed by Holly at http://aheartafire.wordpress.com)

We don’t need to worship our relics
but still – pausing we know the beauty
of where we have been, and always hopeful
as we turn the key, opening the future.

reading stories of my past
mistakes that I’ve made
free lessons life does cast;
old chapters I revisit
allows me to elicit
with fresher lenses
new insights unveiled
teach me more each day
learning where I’ve failed.

Fondling my scars
I delved into the
Depths of my memories
Reliving each moment
Emerging forever new.

The past is gone however much we try
We have to leave things there and say goodbye
Nothing can be improved by wishing it was better
We cannot re say those words or even re write that letter.
The future too is a foreign land we can never go there
So live you life now, be kind, be honest, loving and fair.

How about: We don’t need to worship our relics
but still – pausing we know the beauty
of where we have been, and always hopeful
as we turn the key, opening the future.

Oh this is lovely!!!! I am going to add it in now! You touched my heart by contributing your beautiful thoughts. When Holly messaged I almost melted because she writes so beautifully too. I cannot believe the many talented people I am blessed to know here. Huge smiles.

I love all of these B! What a beautiful idea. The past is something I’m happy I never have to visit again. I once said there’s nothing there for me so I focus on what’s ahead but you are right the learning that comes from it continues to grow! Maybe! Wow B this is really good and cathartic for me! 💜💟

Hey so this is my idea for addition after Oliana’s verses

    Fondling my scars
    I delved into the
    Depths of my memories
    Reliving each moment
    Emerging forever new.
